Dr. Amir Tahernia, Medical Director

Dr. Amir TaherniaDr. Tahernia has had an impeccable academic pedigree, having attended some of the finest institutions in the country. His education has taken him from UCLA to NYU School of Medicine and most recently Duke University. At UCLA he was elected to the elite Phi Beta Kappa society, which recognizes only a small fraction of undergraduates as the brightest students in the country. While at the NYU School of Medicine he won honors in Surgery. He completed a total of 7 years of General Surgery training, which included dedicated research in plastic and reconstructive surgery. This led to several fine works resulting in publications and presentations at national meetings.

Dr. Tahernia is author to book chapters in Seminal Plastic Surgery textbooks.

He comes to Los Angeles after completing a rigorous hand surgery fellowship at the world-renowned Kleinert Hand and Microsurgery Institute in Louisville, Kentucky, while studying at the prestigious Duke University Medical Center. Duke has consistently been ranked as one of the top 10 medical centers in the nation. During his fellowship training, he performed the entire spectrum of hand and plastic surgery from the most sophisticated reconstructive procedures to high-end aesthetic surgery. Dr. Tahernia was fortunate to be trained by some of the masters of reconstructive hand and plastic surgery.

Dr. Tahernia is a diplomat of both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery, putting him in an elite group of double board-certified surgeons. All in all he has had over 10 years of surgical training with a particular focus on aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.

In addition, Dr. Tahernia also has a private plastic and reconstructive surgery practice.

Orthopedic Surgeons

Dr. Rajan PatelDr. Rajan Patel, Medical Director

After graduating from medical school Dr. Patel started his surgical internship at UCLA Medical Center. He then completed his orthopedic residency at Albert Einstein/ LIJ Medical Center in New York. During residency Dr. Patel presented several research papers at Orthopedic Research Society, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and various other academic meetings. He served as the team physician for professional league baseball, soccer, tennis and hockey athletes. He also was a clinical instructor in several national orthopedic courses for shoulder reconstructive procedures.

His interest in adult reconstruction led him to complete an additional year of fellowship training in joint reconstruction at the University of Pennsylvania where he crafted his skills in complex adult reconstruction of the shoulder, hip, and knee. Along with primary and revision joint reconstruction, his other clinical interests include minimally invasive surgery, alternative bearings for joint reconstruction, CAS (computer assisted surgery), and orthobiologic applications in orthopedics surgery. He also has a private orthopedic practice.

Dr. Patel holds two unique board certifications in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine, along with a fellowship in adult reconstruction. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and Arthroscopic Association of North America. He is also Qualified Medical Examiner (Q.M.E) for the State of California Industrial Medical Council.

Dr. Joseph IsaacsonDr. Joseph Isaacson

As a private practice orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Isaacson specializes in working with children and people with congenital abnormalities and small stature as well as joint reconstructive surgery in young adults. Dr. Isaacson has his own orthopedic practice and works at City of Hope with childhood cancer patients. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Orthopedics at the University of Southern California and a member of the medical staff at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles where he has served on many medical committees including the Medical Executive Committee. He is also on staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he has held more than 14 committee and board offices.

Dr. Melvin NutigDr. Melvin Nutig

Dr. Nutig has had a long and distinguished career in orthopedic surgery, and he is proud of his position as one of the senior members of the Beverly Hills Orthopedic Group. He is a general orthopedic surgeon with a special interest in sports medicine, as well as shoulder, elbow, hip and knee surgery, and has his own orthopedic practice. He was also an early champion of telemedicine, the use of modern communication technology for the delivery of medical care where it might otherwise not be available. He has been recognized as an expert in the field, both locally and nationally.


Dr. Peter NewtonDr. Peter Newton

Dr. Newton began his orthopedic training in New York City with an orthopedic research fellowship at Columbia University. Thereafter, he did his general surgery internship at St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital followed by his orthopedic residency at the New York Orthopedic Hospital, Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. He then spent an additional year in San Diego, obtaining a fellowship in Sports Medicine, Arthroscopic surgery, and knee and shoulder reconstructive surgery. He has his own practice specializing in orthopedic surgery.


Dr. Jason SnibbeDr. Jason Snibbe

Dr. Jason Snibbe is a board certified, orthopedic surgeon practicing in Los Angeles. He specializes in reconstruction of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee. He performs advanced hip arthroscopy and minimally invasive hip and knee replacements. He attended medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed his residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center and completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at the world renowned Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic. As a fellow, he served as an assistant team physician for the Lakers, Dodgers, Angels, Kings, Mighty Ducks, LA Avengers, Galaxy, and LMU sports. He also has his own orthopedic practice in Beverly Hills.

Dr. Andrew WeissDr. Andrew Weiss

Dr. Weiss attended medical school at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine where he graduated honors/ Alpha Omega Alpha and then completed at an orthopedic surgery residency at UCLA/ Harbor Medical Center. Dr. Weiss is a Board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He serves on staff at Cedar Sinai Medical Center and Olympia Medical Center. He also serves on the the faculty of Harbor/UCLA Medical Center.


Dr. Eric MillsteinDr. Eric Millstein

Dr. Millstein has presented research on long-term outcomes of ACL reconstruction and arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and remains active in teaching other surgeons complex arthroscopic techniques as a complement to his clinical practice.


Dr. Sonu AhluwaliaDr. Sonu Ahluwalia

Dr. Ahluwalia received his orthopaedic training at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program in Boston, one of the most sought after training programs in orthopaedic surgery. He completed a fellowship in Shoulder Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Medical School) in Boston. He is trained in arthroscopic repair of rotator cuffs and cartilage repair of the shoulder as well as conventional and reverse shoulder replacement surgery. His fellowship in Sports Medicine was completed at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. This is accredited by the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He has a private orthopedic practice and is trained in advance techniques for knee arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction along with other sports related conditions.

Dr. Steven MeierDr. Steven Meier

Dr. Meier’s areas of focus involve shoulder, knee and athletic injuries and the surgical and non-surgical treatment of these conditions.  His emphasis is on minimally-invasive arthroscopic surgery and he has a particular interest in all-arthroscopic repair for rotator cuff injury and shoulder instability as well as reconstructive cartilage and knee ligament surgery.  His specialized training provides him with expertise in using state-of-the-art, arthroscopic techniques for treating problems of the shoulder, knee, elbow, hip and ankle.
