When preparing to undergo a procedure at the Hand Surgery Center of Excellence, many patients have questions regarding insurance, cost and billing for our services. There are many different types of insurance companies and plans, and deciphering the benefits of your medical care can sometimes be overwhelming. We accept Aetna, Cigna, Health Net and United, but will also work with patients outside of these plans, and we offer competitive pricing.

We understand that healthcare billing can be confusing and our goal is to make this step of the process as simple as possible. Please don’t hesitate to contact us at (888) 529-1873 if you have any questions regarding payment for an upcoming surgery. You may also contact us to confirm your insurance policy prior to seeing one of our doctors, and we can offer you a personal coverage assessment.

Insurance Plans Accepted at the Hand Surgery Center of Excellence

The Hand Surgery Center of Excellence accepts all PPO plans (Preferred Provider Organizations) and will work with your provider to confirm your coverage. PPO plans are one of the most popular types of insurance because they typically provide the most freedom regarding selecting a healthcare provider or facility. The most common PPO insurance accepted includes:

  • Aetna
  • Cigna
  • Health Net
  • United

For patients without insurance or with insurance not accepted by the Hand Surgery Center of Excellence, we offer a competitive cash discount. Specific payment arrangements for patients without insurance can be determined by our billing department.

Fees and Payment Arrangements

When a procedure is performed at the Hand Surgery Center of Excellence, multiple services may be involved, which are then factored into the overall cost of care. The Hand Surgery Center of Excellence charges a facility fee for each procedure that is performed in our outpatient surgery center. This facility fee does not include fees for your surgeon, anesthesiologist, consulting physician or required pathology and laboratory work. These additional fees vary by procedure.

Patients are responsible for payments for their procedure. If you have insurance, we require that you pay your estimated deductible and co-payments prior to your surgery. We accept cash, personal checks (co-pay ONLY), VISA, MasterCard, Discover Card and American Express. We will then bill your insurance carrier on your behalf.

Advantages of Outpatient Surgery

It is important to factor both cost and quality when choosing a surgical facility. As an outpatient surgery center, the Hand Surgery Center of Excellence offers high-quality, personalized care in a safe and controlled environment.

Our unique structure, world-renowned physicians and state-of-the-art technology enable us to perform certain procedures on an outpatient basis that would require inpatient hospital stay at other facilities. Inpatient hospital stay can become quite expensive, and so many patients find that our services are comparable or even less expensive than those of a hospital.

Because the Hand Surgery Center of Excellence is an elective, non-emergency surgical center, our patients do not experience long delays and are far less likely to contract an infection. Moreover, our physicians work with the same nurses and assistants every single day, which translates to more efficient surgery and reduced time under anesthesia. For these reasons, the Hand Surgery Center of Excellence has quickly developed a reputation amongst physicians as the “go to” center for excellent surgical care.
